Your itinerary for the adventure
Although we make every effort to adhere to the itinerary described below, the itinerary is subject to change for numerous reasons beyond our control, including weather and terrain conditions .
RECEPTION AND START OF TREKKING
We will meet at 11:00 am at the YPF service station in Tornquist, from where we will drive the 15 km of gravel road that separates us from Estancia Funke in private vehicles. There we will start the trekking crossing first about 4 km with little unevenness through a field, always following the reference of the pine forest that slopes the Napostá Hill. Once we reach the beginning of the pine forest, the terrain begins to gain altitude, the route is quite steep in some sections, and on the way there are loose stones so you have to be careful when stepping. We will cover a little less than 2km with 250m of unevenness until we leave the forest. We will continue progressing along the edge of the sierras on our way to the dynamited pass, which is located at 850 meters above sea level and where we will set up our camping area. In the afternoon we will make a light trekking to the guanacos cave at 930 meters above sea level. We will have the opportunity to explore the inside of the cave, discover interesting facts about its formation and learn about the geology of the place. From there we get a unique postcard view of Cerro Tres Picos, the highest point in the province of Buenos Aires, which we will try to reach the next day.
SUMMIT ATTEMPT AND DESCENT
We got up early to have breakfast and lightly start the ascent to the summit of Cerro Tres Picos. The climb up to the summit has a steep slope and it is the biggest effort of the weekend. With a calm pace we will gain altitude until we reach the pre-summit, where we will take a brief rest before the final attack: a short and steep ascent where sometimes we will have to use our hands. The summit is wide and has beautiful views of the mountain system, nearby villages and main peaks. We will gather around the summit milestone to take the group photo and have time to connect with the environment and the feeling of having accomplished the objective. Little by little, we retrace our steps until we reach the campsite again. The only thing left to do is to dismantle the camp and with the backpack complete, we will start the return to Estancia Funke. Upon arrival, we will close the activity with a delicious surprise!
