Would you like to climb rock with autonomy and safety?
This workshop is designed and planned so that you can go out to the rock with autonomy and safety, incorporating essential knowledge to climb in any climbing sector in nature. The objective is that each participant can plan a visit to a climbing sector, incorporating tools, knowledge and the necessary technique to enjoy the sport with autonomy, safety and the least possible impact.
In this workshop we will spend 2 days and 1 night working in a sport rock climbing sector.
You will climb multiple routes and learn technical safety maneuvers applied to rock and problem solving.
The workshop takes place in Buenos Aires, the climbing sector to perform the activity is defined a week before according to weather conditions. All this with a team of professional and qualified guides who will provide you with the necessary assistance and safety at all times.

Planned contents
Although we make every effort to comply with the workshop itinerary, it is subject to change for numerous reasons beyond our control, including weather and terrain conditions. The programmed contents will be adapted to respond to the needs of the group that makes up the workshop, so that everyone will be able to carry out the activities according to their level of experience, taking into account the pre-requisites requested.
Theoretical contents
- General considerations
Previous investigation of the sector. Access, facilities and/or camping sector. Low impact practices. - In the sector
Considerations of the sector and foot of the track. Safety in the sector. Coexistence. - Minimum equipment
Characteristics and care of the minimum basic equipment necessary for rock climbing. - Accidents
First aid in climbing, frequent scenarios, protocols and evacuation. First aid kit assembly.
Field practice
- Analysis of the route
General evaluation of the route and fixed equipment on the rock. Safety considerations and degree of exposure. Positioning of equipment and belayer. - Belay on top rope, next and first
Rope checks. Rope communication. Correct use of plate/ATC and gri-gri. Dynamics and safety considerations with others climbing or belaying on adjacent routes. Dynamizations. - Climbing on top rope, second and first ropes
Reading and strategy. How to set the belays, how to pass the rope. Rock climbing techniques. Flights. - Top rope assembly
Top rope assembly techniques. - Cleaning a route
Linking in the chain. Overhangs and overhangs, safety considerations.
Rappelling and sport belaying. Retrieving the material placed on the rock. - Frequent troubleshooting
Recovering material without reaching the chain. Missing and/or bad condition of the chain.
List of required equipment
The key to your comfort during active travel is to wear layers (see Layering Clothing Basics). For maximum comfort at minimum weight, you need versatile layers that combine insulation, ventilation and weather protection. That’s why we created this list to help you choose gear and bring only what you need. Weather and other conditions on the ground will dictate what clothing and gear you should wear each day.
BACKPACKING AND CAMPING
- Medium backpack (32 to 40 liters)

- Trekking boots / approach shoes
- Trekking pants
- Full thermal interior
- Fleece coat or similar
- Down or synthetic warm jacket
- 2 pairs of socks (at least one warm sock)
